Wreh-Asha Walton: Actress / Represented by JLM Personal Management!
West EndCurrently starring in The Lion King
Monologueslam was created to give actors and actresses a free platform to showcase their talent in front of the industry, in a supportive but competitive environment. Since its launch in the UK it has slowly become the place to go to shine when the light might seem a little dim. There is no better example than the story of Wreh-Asha – so we thought you might want to hear it from her:
“Monologueslam events catapulted me into a wonderful mix of talented actors and creative’s and gave me a monthly platform to perform. Watching the other performances always seemed to enrich and inspire me to develop in so many different ways, also the support and encouragement I gained from industry praise was a real boost at a time when I needed it most. A well as the platform Monologueslam also offered a few master classes which gave me a great opportunity to get back to basics and receive honest feedback from casting directors and practitioners as well as a space to fail, try, create and play with text.
Since taking part in a number of events I have managed to gain representation from one of the agents that sat on the panel which led to me landing a role in a West End production. Monologueslam is an alternative showcasing experience that I urge all actors in and out of work to go to, watch or take part, but just be there! Monologueslam is more than a showcase it's a movement and I am so honoured to have been a part of it.”
Goldrush Entertainment CEO and Monologueslam UK founder, Fela Oke had this to say;
“Wreh-Asha’s story is a beautiful one and on behalf of the Goldrush and Monologueslam teams I want to extend our hearty congratulations to Wreh Asha. We are happy that monologueslam played a part in helping her take her career to the next level. This is exactly the ethos behind monologueslam.”
